Wait!  There's skiing in Spain you ask?

YES THERE IS!  Spain has nearly 40 top-notch ski resorts with over 1000 miles of ski runs!  Spain has been on my short list for several years and I am very excited to be taking the group there for the 2020 Ski & See Europe trip. I have chosen the resort of Sierra Nevada!

Located in Southern Spain, Sierra Nevada is Spain's top ski resort and Europe's most southern slopes. With summits nearing 12,000 feet it is Europe's highest ski resort and the snow is plentiful. Sierra Nevada has the enviable position of being located in the Andalusian region of southern Spain where many of Spain's greatest sights are located. No other ski resort in the world offers so much great skiing and this many day trip opportunities!  The optional trip extension is to Seville, southern Spain's most famous city and tourist destination.  With so much to see, history sights to see and great weather Seville checks all the boxes.

Nearly 12,000 feet up with the Mediterranean Sea and Africa in the distance!

Sierra Nevada, Spain!
January 24  - January 31

Sierra Nevada is Spain's top ski village. With slopes nearing 12,000 feet, 160 ski trails and 40 lifts, a terrific snow record and is truly a world class ski resort (World Cup races have been held here). Europe's most southerly ski resort Sierra Nevada is one of the sunnier ski resorts you will visit.  When it isn't snowing then blue-bird days are the norm. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Mediterranean Sea and northern Africa!

The atmosphere, food and nightlife are purely Spanish.  The ski days start later, the sun shines more and tapas and sangria are the call for lunch.  Amazing Spanish food is served all over the mountain and a glass of Cava (Spanish champagne) should be enjoyed before you head back on the slopes. Sierra Nevada has a very lively apres ski and nightlife scene and is well known as Spain's most lively ski village. We will have the unique opportunity to ski in the morning then pop off our skis and head to the beach to have a glass of Spanish wine in the afternoon!

Overlooking the village of Sierra Nevada, Spain!

We will take a day off from skiing and head to Granada, Spain which is home to one of the most spectacular structures in the world, The Alhambra Palace (pictured in header).  Built in the 1200's, this Moorish Palace is Spain's #1 tourist sight and unlike any other palace you have ever visited. The Alhambra complex includes dozens of buildings, towers, walls, gardens, and a mosque. However it's the indescribably intricate stone carvings and the magnificent tile-lined ceilings that steal the show.  After visiting the palace we will spend the rest of the day having a tapas lunch and taking in the sights of beautiful and lively Granada.

Not a big skier? Then go sightseeing instead!

Sierra Nevada's proximity to the southern coast of Spain opens up a world of opportunities to do more sightseeing than any other ski resort in Europe! You can easily spend your days sipping Cava on the beaches of Costa Del Sol, visiting Granada and theAlhambra Palace and taking in the sights of beautiful Malaga and be back home for dinner at our hotel.

Skiing in Spain will truly be a unique experience plus having amazing nearby sights to see makes it even more special especially for those not wishing to ski much.  From the great skiing to the amazing nearby sites to the food and culture of southern Spain.  It will be unlike any other ski resort we have visited and promises to be one of the most unique Ski & See Europe trips ever!

January 31 - February 3
3 night Sightseeing Extension (Optional)

After skiing we will take an easy drive through southern Spain to beautiful Seville,Spain's second most visited city and most charming.  Seville is rich in history with innumerable monuments like the spectacular cathedral, the Giralda tower, the wonderful palace of the Reales Alcázares, the magical Barrio of Santa Cruz with its ancient narrow streets and the Maestranza bullfighting ring. At night we will mix in with the locals and have traditional Spanish dinners and drinks followed by late night fun!

Seville's history dates back nearly 1000 years there is an historic sight on every corner of this spectacular city! Being the birth place of Flamenco dancing it is common to see impromptu flamenco dancers break out dancing in the street. Grab a glass of sangria and enjoy the show!

Ronda, Spain!
Day Trip
Between Sierra Nevada and Seville

Spain is famous for its hilltop Andalusian white hilltop villages and enroute to Seville we will be making a stop at breathtaking Ronda, Spain's most famous and beautiful white village. We will have several hours to explore this village which is unique to Spain. Ronda is famous for its spectacular hilltop views, narrow boulevards, ancient bull ring and striking whitewashed buildings. A stop here will sure to be one of the trip highlights!

We will be taking a 2 1/2 hour high speed train from Seville to Madrid and spending the next few nights experiencing the sights and culture of this great city. You may choose either two or three nights in Madrid.

Cordoba, Spain!
We will be making a half day stop to Cordoba Spain, where there is the amazing  Mezquita (Mosque) and ancient Jewish and Roman history.  Cordoba is located en route from Seville to Madrid and we will hop off the train, take a guided tour have some free time to explore and have a lunch. Played many different sports with them from soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, bowling, flag football, and some of their social events. Great opportunity to play many sports at various levels. It is a friendly group that keeps you coming back to win the elusive champions fleece.

Previously just played in one of their softball leagues on Wednesday nights and I must say I had a great experience. League was organized, umpires were professional, and the staff answered all questions I needed and made team registration easy. I highly recommend their leagues!

Xavier A.

I’ve been participating in Players volleyball tournaments for close to 6 years now and they never disappoint. They have so many leagues and tournament dates for multiple sports that I can’t wait for them to post dates so I can fill up my calendar! Lots of friendly and helpful staff and their events are a great setting to meet new people!
