Opening night @ SE PDX courts, with both new and returning teams. Indy # 2 was the first of it's kind and showed they can play. With only 5 total and never playing/knowing each other before the night, they made plays.
Troy was ready, making the transition from the sand, no problem. Hustling, high 5'in and hitting hard, nice match. Keep having fun and smiling.

The E! True Volleyball Story
The E! True Volleyball Story vs. We Got Hops was a high-flying, hard hitting game. In a league of beer drinkers and fun havers, this was a game to behold. Both teams had 100% solid lineups and a good natured competitive spirit. Players were bump, set, spiking (even in that order), coming up with blocks, and diving to make saves. Although E! came out on top (something to do with those killer serves and racing spikes), both teams had a great showing and were really fun to watch. With the addition of some sideline cheerleaders, this game felt like the real deal! Great job, E!

Our player of the week is someone who is both a great player and teammate. Jesusa comes to the courts early, just in case another team needs an extra player. She is a consistent setter and passer, placing balls perfectly for her teammates. She gets low for digs, making big saves at clutch moments. In addition to all that, Jesusa has a great attitude and clearly enjoys playing volleyball, making her a great example of an Underdog player. Congrats!

What about Mauricio?
This week, there was one player that rose above the rest, and was obviously on her A game. Christine played in the first round with her team, and then stayed for the next two rounds to help out teams who needed extra players. Guess what all three teams she played on had in common? They all won! Christine always has a good attitude while being one of the most solid players on the court. She has a serve that teams run from, a consistent pass, and a wicked spike. She never shows any sign of stress or frustration, and is a key player every time she walks on the court. Great job this week, Christine!

Let's Talk About Sets, Baby!
This week's Team of the Week goes to Let's Talk About Sets, Baby! Chelsea "Spiker Mofo" Bender set the tone as she commanded the net through all 3 games. France kept the team in check with her frequent coach updates of "Out! Out! Out! Out means out!" While Turner and Bender celebrated each point with coordinated foot stomping, Wentworth and Mattson gave a solid performance. It was a real team effort as they cruised to victory in 3 straight sets. Oh yeah, and there was THAT GUY. He did some cool things too. Good job LTAS,B!

Playing their usual team ball, Spike Club Too, put up a fight, but come up a few points short. That didn't stop Collier from playing his game. Always hustling and making the play of the night!
Chasing a ball, running at the net towards the side line, out of bounds, 1 arm(left) bump over the net save(!), at an incredible angle!? Good stuff. Nice match by both teams, it was fun to watch.
